I am a scientist with a PhD in physics, specialising in ion beam analysis methods at the Institute of Applied Physics, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Subsequently, I worked at the Bureau of Policy Analysis, where this experience became essential as my colleagues and Iauthored anti-corruption investigations. From the outset, we ensured that every word in our reports was rooted in verifiable evidence, and we were fully prepared to stand by — and did stand by — our work in court.
With the onset of the full-scale war, I began working as an editor-in-chief of Suspilne Sumy, then moved to Donbas to cover the war. In my opinion, documenting the war is of paramount importance. I am currently focused on covering Russian war crimes, the occupation of Ukrainian territory, the aftermath of Russian shelling, and the destruction of infrastructure.
Currently, with around a million people in the army and millions more abroad, staffing is the biggest challenge in my newsroom. Finding qualified journalists willing to cover the frontlines is becoming increasingly difficult.
